 As wet weather continues and stress levels remain high, we want you to know there are resources available for support:

We want to call specific attention to the Animal Feed Distribution Center

Skagit County Emergency Operations is coordinating donations for the animal feed distribution center. Clean, non-moldy, dry hay in square bales are accepted. Small animal feed is also accepted.

Please bring donations to 13421 Farm to Market Rd, Mount Vernon, WA 98273 between 11:00am-8:00pm until further notice.

If you have large bales of hay or need large bales of hay, contact Emily Diaz at emilyd@co.skagit.wa.us.

Livestock Information:

  • Shelter for livestock is available at the Sedro-Woolley Rodeo Grounds located at 24538 Polte Rd, Sedro-Woolley. For questions, call: 360-421-9468. There is also limited capacity for small animals and trailers can be accommodated.

  • If you have large bales of hay to donate or need large bales of hay, contact Emily Diaz at emilyd@co.skagit.wa.us

  • If you need help making arrangements for your livestock, you can contact Skagit Animals in Need (SAIN) at info@skagitanimalsinneed.org or on Facebook.

  • Skagit Valley Humane Society has very limited space for small animals. Contact (360) 757-0445 or info@skagithumane.org.  

  • For small animals and reptiles, call Forgotten Animal Kingdom (425) 210-3807. 

  • Stranded or abandoned animals needing assistance call 911 or the non-emergency line to dispatch (360) 428-3211.

Free Flood Debris Disposal for Skagit County Households

Skagit County households affected by recent flooding can begin to dispose of debris for free on Friday, December 19th, at the Skagit County Recycling and Transfer Station, located at 14104 Ovenell Road in Mount Vernon. The site operates Monday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The facility will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Items accepted at the transfer station for free by households affected by flooding:

  • Drywall

  • Insulation

  • Flooring/Carpet

  • Furniture

  • Appliances

  • Similar household items

  • Select household hazardous waste

Please sort debris – appliances and household hazardous waste must be separated from the rest of your debris during drop-off. Household hazardous waste will only be accepted Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at this location.

Items not accepted for free by those affected by flooding:

  • Tires

  • Vehicles

  • Asbestos

  • Household Trash

  • Items not damaged by flooding

  • Trees or other woody debris

Please note that only flood-related debris will be accepted at no cost. For all other debris, please refer to the Solid Waste Rate Schedule. Free flood debris disposal is for households only, no business disposal.

Sauk Transfer Station will be able to accept small loads of flood-related debris at no cost. Larger loads may be sent to the Transfer Station on Ovenell. The Sauk Transfer Station, located at 50796 State Route 20 in Concrete, is open Thursday through Sunday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The facility will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Free disposal of flood damaged items will be available through January 16, 2026. For questions on what is accepted, please call the Transfer Station at 360-416-1570
